tiffany sudol baker

PhD(e), PT, DPT, CFMT, C.Ac., CPT (NASM-PES)

Dr. Tiffany Sudol Baker is delighted to be serving the greater Fairfield area as a physical therapist, certified acupuncturist, and researcher. She is currently one of 263 physical therapists to hold a Certified Functional Manual Therapy credential, and to have completed a residency in Manual Therapy. She specializes in men’s and women’s pelvic health, the treatment of vision and vestibular diagnoses, orthopedic and sports rehabilitation, dance medicine, and chronic pain. Treatment concerns include dizziness, concussions, headache/migraine, urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, and temporomandibular joint disease (TMJ).  

Tiffany is a former Broadway performer, NFL cheerleader, and competitive dance teacher with over 25 years of experience working in physical education. Tiffany holds an Associates in Science and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre and Dance. She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Hunter College in New York City. She completed a residency and certification in manual therapy through the Institute of Physical Art, a certification in Acupuncture from Northern University, and an advanced certification in Vestibular Rehabilitation from Emory University’s School of Medicine. She is currently eligible for her Doctorate in Philosophy in Physical Therapy (PhD (abd)) from NOVA Southeastern University.  

She has presented at the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Section Meeting, the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science, and at Yale Maternal Fetal Medicine. She currently lectures at Hunter College and was an assistant at Mercy College in the Physical Therapy Department.  When not working with patients and clients, you will find Tiffany spending time with her family, running, and practicing yoga.

Dr. Matthew Pettersen received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Hunter College, where he earned the Hunter Certificate of Achievement for Academic Excellence and the Clinical Education Award for Excellence During Clinical Experiences. He has undergone extensive manual therapy continuing education through the Institute of Physical Art culminating in earning his Certified Functional Manual Therapy (CFMT) designation with distinction (greater than 94% cumulative score).

Matthew rejoins the Baker Physical Therapy family after a 14 month manual therapy fellowship in Steamboat Springs, CO. This intensive program focused on all aspects of clinical care, and included hands-on mentorship, inservice training, and rigorous testing.

He has experience treating a variety of orthopedic diagnoses, ranging from immediately post-op to return to high level sport. Through his fellowship, he gained extensive experience treating chronic pain, autonomic disorders, post-concussion, and TMJ disorder. He takes a global approach to treatment to address each patient’s mechanical, neuromuscular, and motor control inefficiencies across the entire kinetic chain, utilizing soft tissue and joint mobilization, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), postural re-education, and targeted exercises. He has a passion for learning new techniques and skills to deliver the best care to his patients.

Matthew lives in Bayside, NY with his wife Haemar and their cats Meeko and Sven. He has been practicing and competing in Judo for over twelve years. He is a two-time New Jersey State Champion and has earned a second degree black belt. He also trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and wrestling and has years of experience in bodybuilding and weightlifting. He is an experienced children’s Judo class instructor and enjoys sharing his passion for the art and seeing his students improve. He is enthusiastic about empowering others to reach their potential and brings this attitude to the clinic.
